Deputy Editor
Essential requirements:
- Experience working with a newspaper or magazine (including student publications)
- Experience of a broad range of different sections within a newspaper or magazine
- An interest in mental health and wellbeing
Desirable:
- Personal or professional experience and interest in politics, activism and social justice
- Experience in liaising with sponsors
- Experience with events
- Experience of directing a team of editors
- Some level of administrative, organisational, or secretarial experience (e.g. within a publication or university committee)
Responsibilities:
- Working in partnership with, and sometimes under the direction of the Editor in Chief
- Organising, co-ordinating and minuting commissioning meetings; managing deadlines, and ensuring the editorial team remains functional, organised, and smooth-running
- Chasing up deadlines
- Liaising with sponsors
- Coming up with creative ways in which Blueprint, can grow, and become more inclusive
Section Editors – Arts Editor, Opinion Editor, Features Editor, Politics Editor, or Creative Writing Editor:
Essential requirements:
- Experience of writing or editing for a newspaper or magazine
- An interest in mental health and wellbeing
- Some form of in-depth experience of the section that you wish to apply for (e.g. experience as an artist if applying for Arts Editor, not necessarily editorial)
Desirable:
- Personal or professional experience and interest in politics, activism and social justice
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with, and sometimes under the direction of the Editor in Chief
- Crafting, directing, and executing a clear overall vision for your section
- Overseeing, and working with regional editors to commission diverse, engaging and relevant content on the topic of mental health
- Coming up with creative ways in which your section, and Blueprint, can grow, and become more inclusive
Social media editor
Essential requirements:
- Experience in utilising Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram in promotion
- An interest in mental health and wellbeing
- Understanding of content notes and trigger warnings
Desirable:
- Personal or professional experience and interest in politics, activism and social justice
Responsibilities:
- Translating the vision of the Editor in Chief and Section Editors to social media platforms
- Crafting, directing, and executing a social media media strategy for the magazine
- Coming up with creative ways in which Blueprint, can grow through the use of social media
Print editor
Essential requirements:
- Experience of creating a print publication
- An interest in mental health and wellbeing
Desirable:
- Personal or professional experience and interest in politics, activism and social justice
- An understanding of zines as a medium
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and executing the publication of the near-finished print-edition.
Illustrators
Anyone interested in illustration, willing to commit 1 illustration per week, should apply!
