CN: Intermission, dropping out

This is the day I was supposed to graduate

Instead I lie here and ignore it

That nag

That twisting urge

The lapping

Sorrowful beat

Heavy feeling

Nick drake can’t drown it

My throat is a coil

My stomach dense

The day I left

Freedom tripped ahead

Hollow songs

Echoed down that

Shining corridor

Hopes opiates raging in my blood

Reeling in this new idea

A gift

I was giving to myself

It isn’t so easy now

Watching as my class graduates

While I struggle to lift the covers from my bed

‘You were a fighter’

My mother says

Small luminous thing

Lungs that couldn’t breathe

I still struggle now

I   still    struggle
